Project Approval Board (PAB) 2022 – 2023 aprroved Grassroot Level Sports Development Programme (GSDP) under Innovation Intervention to open 40 centres in different district within Mizoram. Aim of GSDP is to trained Govt. Schools students in different discipline from Elementary (6-14) stage. Under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sports is no longer co-curricular activities, it is under curricular activity. So, GSDP will be used for sports basic training for elementary students. The Ministry approved Rs.80 lakhs for this project. The following were different discipline and no. of centre approved by PAB.

To follow the project Samagra Shiksha, Mizoram signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 12th October 2022 (Wed), 11:00 am at Conference Hall, Directorate of School Education with the following sports discipline – Mizoram Football Association (MFA), Mizoram Boxing Association (MBA), Hockey Mizoram, Mizoram Badminton Association (MBA) and Mizoram Weightlifting Association (MWA). The State Level Committee and Associations joint meeting select district and village to be introduced different discipline and Samagra Shiksha, Mizoram select schools from that district and village selected by the joint meeting. All the school selected are Govt. Schools. The programme will be implemented within 6 months. All the centre school will enrolled 30 students and out of 30 students minimum 5 students must be selected from girls.
State Level Committee formed District Level Management Board to look after the progress and help them in their problems. District Level Management Board is also entrusted to appoint Trainer and Asst.Trainer. Honorarium of Trainer Rs.5,000 pm and Asst. Trainer Rs.3,000 pm. the discipline introduced in that district.
